Sintering of Zinc Oxide

Journal of the American Ceramic Society, 1954
The fundamental processes involved in the sintering of ionic solids are highly complex. Of particular significance are the initial stages of sintering during which surface effects are of prime importance. The sintering of zinc oxide has been studied by the method of changes in surface area at temperatures from 300° to 1000°C.

CALAMINE AND ZINC OXIDE

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1945
To the Editor:— Capt. Paul A. Newton continues an ancient error in his communication on vesicopustular eczema (The Journal, September 8, p. 150). Referring to treatment, he mentions calamine lotion being used on the body surfaces and zinc oxide applied to the lesions of the axillas. Calamine is zinc oxide plus some iron rust.

Zinc Oxide Smoke

Nature, 1941
IN NATURE of December 21, 1940, p. 807, Mr. Fordham has referred to the shape of the particles of zinc oxide smoke, formed by burning zinc in air, as inferred from both optical and electron diffraction data. The accompanying photograph, obtained in this Laboratory by means of the electron microscope1, confirms his statement that some of the particles ...

Twinning in Zinc Oxide

Journal of Applied Physics, 1944
A crystallographic analysis of a characteristic shape of particle found in zinc oxide produced by burning zinc vapor has been made with the aid of the electron microscope. This particle consists of four needle-shaped crystals united at a common juncture.

Electrochemistry of Zinc Oxide

1996
Zinc oxide is a semiconducting material and is commonly found in the corrosion products of zinc and its alloys. Many passive films formed on zinc electrodes in various electrolytes have been shown to have some of the semiconducting properties of ZnO, and the semiconducting properties have been found to play an important role in the corrosion behavior ...
