Zinc Oxide and Zinc-Cadmium Oxide Phosphors
Journal of The Electrochemical Society, 1968Zinc oxide phosphors may emit in four different bands, the ultraviolet near‐edge emission, the common green band (possibly involving sulfur), a yellow‐orange band due to selenium, and a red to near infrared band due to ammonia. About 10% of can be replaced by with a corresponding shift, to lower energies, of the optical absorption edge, of the near ...

Zinc oxide films by thermal oxidation of zinc thin films
Surface and Coatings Technology, 2005Zinc thin films were deposited onto glass substrates using magnetron sputtering in argon or argon and oxygen mixed atmospheres. These films were then oxidized in air at 600 °C for 1 h to form thin oxide films. ZnO films formed by oxidation of Zn thin films deposited in Ar normally had a dense structure with oxide whiskers on the surface.

Interstitial zinc in zinc oxide
Journal of Physics and Chemistry of Solids, 1957Abstract Methods of introducing interstitial zinc into single crystals of zinc oxide are described which involve heating the crystals in zinc vapor followed by rapid quenching. The interstitial zinc atoms act as donors with a low ionization energy and they are observed by the extra conductivity which they impart to the crystals.

Copper/zinc oxide mixtures show strong synergistic effects when used together as catalysts, particularly in methanol synthesis and water-gas-shift reactions. The authors have employed semiempirical quantum-mechanical calculations (INDO) to study the electronic properties of ZnO, CuO, and CuO/sub 2/ clusters (less than or equal to 26 atoms), of Cu ...

Zinc is an essential trace element that is available in over-the-counter supplements. Despite the lack of convincing evidence for effectiveness, some individuals use zinc oxide supplements in order to prevent infections such as the common cold, recurrent ear infections, and lower respiratory infections.

Interstitial zinc clusters in zinc oxide
Physical Review B, 2013Doped zinc oxide (ZnO) exhibits anomalous Raman modes in the range of 270 to 870 cm${}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$. Commonly, the resonance at 275 cm${}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ is attributed to the local vibration of Zn atoms in the vicinity of extrinsic dopants. We revisit this assignment by investigating the influence of isotopically purified zinc oxide thin films

Granulation is an important process within many well-developed industries such as pharmaceutical, food and fertilizer production, but also with increasing application outside these ‘traditional’ fields. This paper examines how granulation could be used to ‘improve’ the use of a material, by the study of the granulation of zinc oxide powder with a ...

We report the discovery of two-dimensional (2-D) nanotripods of ZnO, a new member of the ZnO nanostructure family. These planar nanotripods are synthesized via a novel approach known as catalyst-free combust-oxidized mesh (CFCOM) process that we developed using a ZnO factory furnace.
