Advances in Hybrid Icing and Frosting Protection Strategies for Optics, Lens, and Photonics in Cold Environments Using Thin‐Film Acoustic Waves

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article provides a comprehensive overview of fundamentals and recent advances of transparent thin‐film surface acoustic wave technologies on glass substrates for monitoring and prevention/elimination of fog, ice, and frost. Fogging, icing, or frosting on optical lenses, optics/photonics, windshields, vehicle/airplane windows, and solar panel ...

Fabrication of zinc oxide/graphene-carbon nanotubes nanocomposite with enhanced dye degradation ability [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A comparative study between zinc oxide graphene-carbon nanotubes nanocomposite and ZnO nanoparticles was carried out to investigate their abilities in the degradation of Rhodamine B dye. We utilized the Modified Hummer method to prepare the graphene oxide nanosheet.

Local moment formation in zinc doped cuprates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
We suggest that when zinc is substituted for copper in the copper oxide planes of high $T_{c}$ superconductors, it does not necessarily have a valency of 2+. Rather, the valency of a zinc impurity should be determined by its surrounding medium. In order to study this hypothesis, we examine the effect of static impurities inducing diagonal disorder ...

Deformation Behavior of La2O3‐Doped Copper during Equal Channel Angular Pressing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
By additions of strengthening elements and/or structure optimization, the mechanical properties of copper can be increased while keeping favorable electric conductivity. By combining addition of La2O3 and processing by equal channel angular pressing, substructure development is achieved, leading to increase in microhardness to more than double the ...

Production of Gas Phase Zinc Oxide Nanoclusters by Pulsed Laser Ablation [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Surface Science 247 (2005) 1-7, 2004
We present experimental results on the photoluminescence (PL) of gas-suspended zinc oxide nanoclusters prepared during ablation of sintered ZnO targets by a pulsed ArF laser in the presence of oxygen ambient gas. The PL spectra in the UV spectral region correspond to the exciton recombination in the nanoclusters which are crystallized and cooled down ...

Surface Modification of Bacterial Cellulose by Copper and Zinc Oxide Sputter Coating for UV-Resistance/Antistatic/Antibacterial Characteristics

open access: yesCoatings, 2020
In our study, the surface of bacterial cellulose was successively modified by copper and zinc oxide nanoparticles using direct current (DC) magnetron sputtering and radio frequency (RF) reactive sputter coating techniques.

Influence of a Hydrogen Addition to the Inert Gas and Subsequent Heat Treatments on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Magnesium WE43 Fabricated by PBF‐LB/M

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates optimal processing conditions for the laser‐based powder bed fusion of WE43. To limit the interaction with remaining oxygen, a 3 vol% hydrogen admixture to the inert gas is investigated. Furthermore, heat treatments are investigated in the range of 250–350 °C for 48 h.
