Bismuth‐Rich Intermetallic Rods with a Note of Zintl‐Phase

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, 2023
AbstractBlack needle‐shaped crystals of the bismuth‐rich mixed halogenide Bi21Rh4Cl6I7were obtained by slow cooling of a melt of Bi, RhI3and BiCl3. Single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction revealed an orthorhombic structure that consists of infinite intermetallic rodsBi9Rh2]3+and discrete anionic groups [BiII2Cl2I5]3−and [BiIIICl4I2]3−.

Complex Disorder in Type-I Clathrates: Synthesis and Structural Characterization of A8GaxSn46−x (A = Rb, Cs; 6.9 < x < 7.5)

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
Exploratory studies in the systems Rb–Ga–Sn and Cs–Ga–Sn yielded the cubic type-I clathrates with refined compositions Rb8GaxSn46−x and Cs8GaxSn46−x (6.9 < x < 7.5).

Synthesis, Crystal and Electronic Structure of the New Ternary Compound Ca3InAs3

open access: yesCrystals, 2022
Crystals of a new ternary compound in the Ca-In-As family, Ca3InAs3, have been successfully synthesized via flux growth techniques. This is only the third known compound between the respective elements.

Synthesis and Structural Characterization of Ba7Li11Bi10 and AE4(Li,Tr)7Pn6 (AE = Sr, Ba, Eu; Tr = Ga, In; Pn = Sb, Bi)

open access: yesInorganics, 2018
Reported are the synthesis and crystal structure of Ba7Li11Bi10, a new ternary compound crystallizing in its own type with the monoclinic space group C2/m (a = 18.407(3) Å, b = 5.0258(9) Å, and c = 18.353(3) Å; β = 104.43(1)° ...

Superconductivity in layered Zintl phase LiSn2As2

open access: yes, 2021
We report the superconductivity in the layered Zintl phase LiSn$_2$As$_2$, which is isostructural to NaSn$_2$As$_2$ and has a transition temperature ($T_{\mathrm{c}}$) of 1.6 K. Despite similar $T_{\mathrm{c}}$ and Debye temperatures, substituting of Na with Li considerably increases the upper critical field. Based on a systematically comparation of Sn$

Single‐Atom Control of Aromaticity and Excited‐State Dynamics in Endohedral Zirconium–Antimony Zintl Clusters

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Single‐atom growth from [Zr@Sb12]2− to [Zr@Sb13]3− disrupts the closed‐shell S2P6 superatomic configuration and markedly attenuates three‐dimensional (3D) aromaticity. Ultrafast spectroscopy further links stronger spherical aromaticity to slower excited‐state relaxation, establishing an atom‐resolved structure‐aromaticity‐dynamics relationship ...

Tetrahedral Homonuclear Tetrameric Species: Occurrence, Forms, Structures, Properties, and Perspectives [PDF]

open access: yesKemija u Industriji
Tetrahedral homonuclear tetrameric species are neutral or ionic tetrahedra of chemical elements, true molecular tetrahedra in strict geometrical sense. The aim of this work was to find all true elemental tetrahedra experimentally determined as stable and

Reactivity and Controlled Redox Reactions of Salt‐like Intermetallic Compounds in Imidazolium‐Based Ionic Liquids

open access: yesChemistryOpen, 2021
Substituted imidazolium ionic liquids (ILs) were investigated for their reactivity towards Na12Ge17 as a model system containing redox‐sensitive Zintl cluster anions.

Synthesis, Crystal and Electronic Structures of the Pnictides AE3TrPn3 (AE = Sr, Ba; Tr = Al, Ga; Pn = P, As)

open access: yesCrystals, 2015
The new ternary arsenides AE3TrAs3 (AE = Sr, Ba; Tr = Al, Ga) and their phosphide analogs Sr3GaP3 and Ba3AlP3 have been prepared by reactions of the respective elements at high temperatures.

Spotlight on Alkali Metals: The Structural Chemistry of Alkali Metal Thallides

open access: yesCrystals, 2020
Alkali metal thallides go back to the investigative works of Eduard Zintl about base metals in negative oxidation states. In 1932, he described the crystal structure of NaTl as the first representative for this class of compounds.
