Deformation Behavior of Optical Ceramic Nanomultilayers: The Role of Aperiodicity
Ceramic nanomultilayers demonstrate optical and mechanical behavior tunability through aperiodicity. Within the studied systems, optically optimized coatings exhibit an average ultraviolet, visible, and near‐infrared spectral transmittance above 90%.

Zirconia and Y-doped zirconia aerogels and xerogels

Intergranular metal phase increases thermal shock resistance of ceramic coating [PDF]
Dispersed copper phase increases the thermal shock resistance of a plasma-arc-sprayed coating of zirconia used as a heat barrier on a metal substrate. A small amount of copper is deposited on the granules of the zirconia powder before arc-spraying the ...

Evaluating dental zirconia [PDF]
To survey simple contact testing protocols for evaluating the mechanical integrity of zirconia dental ceramics. Specifically, to map vital material property variations and to quantify competing damage modes.Exploratory contact tests are conducted on layer structures representative of zirconia crowns on dentin.Sharp-tip micro- and nano-indentations were
