Phosphorized zirconium oxide nanoparticles

Applied Organometallic Chemistry, 2005
In this work a simple method to phosphorize the surface of nanometric particles of crystalline zirconia is described. The reaction rate of phosphorization was regulated by adding acetic acid and the observed particle size was in the range 40–60 nm. A proton conductivity of the order of 10−3 S cm−1 was measured for phosphorized nanoparticle powder mixed

Chlorination of Zirconium Oxide

JOM, 1952
Production of anhydrous zirconium tetrachloride by direct chlorination of a zirconium oxide-corbon mixture in a silica-brick-lined chlorinator is described. Theory and thermodynamics of reactions are discussed. A pilot-model chlorinator and full-scale production equipment are described and operating data are included.

Creation of Oxidized Zirconium Ortliopaedic Implants

Journal of ASTM International, 2005
More demanding performance expectations for total joint arthroplasty are driving the development of alternative bearing materials. Oxidized zirconium was developed as an alternative to cobalt-chromium alloy for knee and hip femoral components in order to reduce wear of the polyethylene counterface and to address the needs of metal-sensitive patients ...

ChemInform Abstract: FRACTURE BEHAVIOR OF ZIRCONIUM OXIDE‐ZIRCONIUM COMPOSITES

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1978
AbstractMessungen der effektiven Bruchflächenenergie ′Yeff und der Bruchfestigkeit Uf sowie optische und rasterelektronenmikroskopische Untersuchungen an 2phasigen lrOz‐Zr‐Legierungen der Zusammensetzung 40 At.‐% Zr‐60 At.‐% O (durch Heißpressen von Oxid‐Metallpulver‐Mischungen) führen zu folgenden Schlüssen: In Zr‐ZrO2‐Verbundstoffen, deren ...

Synthesis of zirconium oxide by hydrolysis of zirconium alkoxide

Journal of Materials Science, 1995
Submicrometre particles have been prepared from hydrolysis-polycondensation of zirconium alkoxide [Zr(n-C3H7O)(4)] in ethanolic solution. The properties of these particles (morphology, specific surface area, S-BET, crystal phase and size distribution) after calcination at 450 degrees C for 5 h were found to depend on the conditions of synthesis, i.e ...

Zirconium-mediated asymmetric Baeyer-Villiger oxidation

Chirality, 2000
Combinations of axially chiral C2-symmetric diols were used as ligands in zirconium-mediated Baeyer-Villiger reactions. The in situ preformed Zr-diol species proved effective in the asymmetric oxidation of bicyclic and monosubstituted cyclobutanones when a hydroperoxide was employed as oxidant.

Hydrochlorides of zirconium oxide

Journal of the Less Common Metals, 1973
Abstract Crystalline zirconium dioxide is insoluble in hydrochloric acid. Under certain conditions, zirconium dioxide can be formed in hydrochloric acid solutions as oligomers or as chain polymers. Both form hydrochlorides with ratio HCl : ZrO2 = 1.

Preparation of Zirconium Metal by the Electrochemical Reduction of Zirconium Oxide

Metallurgical and Materials Transactions B, 2007
An electrolytic production technique based on the electrochemical reduction of zirconium oxide was developed. Various factors affecting the reduction process were investigated. These factors include the cell voltage, the electrolysis time, the composition of the molten bath, and the temperature of the bath.

Thermal Atomic Layer Etching of Amorphous and Crystalline Hafnium Oxide, Zirconium Oxide, and Hafnium Zirconium Oxide

2019 International Symposium on VLSI Technology, Systems and Application (VLSI-TSA), 2019
Thermal atomic layer etching (ALE) using the fluorination and ligand-exchange mechanism was employed to etch amorphous and crystalline films of hafnium oxide, zirconium oxide, and hafnium zirconium oxide. HF was the fluorination reactant and dimethylaluminum chloride (DMAC) or titanium tetrachloride was the metal precursor for ligand-exchange.

Oxidation of Zirconium-Yttrium Alloys

Advances in X-ray Analysis, 1964
AbstractThe phase and elemental distributions on zirconium alloys containing 5, 10, 25, 35, and 50 at.%. yttrium, oxidized in dry air at 1200 and 1600°C, have been studied by X-ray diffraction, fluorescence, and electron-microprobe techniques. Zirconium-yttrium alloys, which are entirely solid at 1200°C, and zirconium 5 and 25 at.% yttrium alloys ...
