Zirconium (IV) layered phosphonate-phosphate as catalysts for the valorization of glycerol [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry
The valorization of glycerol, a large-volume byproduct of biodiesel production, remains a key challenge for the biorefinery sector. Among the available strategies, its acetalization with acetone offers a sustainable route to produce solketal, a valuable ...

Phosphonate-substituted zirconium oxo clusters [PDF]

open access: yesMonatshefte Für Chemie, 2015
The phosphonate-substituted zirconium oxo clusters Zr6O2(OBu)12(O3PPh)4 and Zr7O2(OiPr)12(O3PCH2CH2CH2Br)6, with octahedrally coordinated Zr atoms, were synthesized by reaction of zirconium alkoxides with phosphonic acid bis(trimethylsilyl) esters. The basic structural motif are Zr3O(µ2-OR)3(OR)3 units which are connected in different ways.

Immobilization of Alendronate on Zirconium Phosphate Nanoplatelets [PDF]

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
Different amounts of sodium-alendronate (ALN) were loaded into layered zirconium phosphates of alpha and gamma type (αZP and γZP) by means of topotactic exchange reactions of phosphate with ALN.

The Sol–Gel Process, a Green Method Used to Obtain Hybrid Materials Containing Phosphorus and Zirconium [PDF]

open access: yesGels
The sol–gel process is a green method used in the last few decades to synthesize new organic–inorganic phosphorus-containing hybrid materials. The sol–gel synthesis is a green method because it takes place in mild conditions, mostly by using water or ...

Organic modification of layered zirconium phosphate/phosphonate for controlled release of therapeutic inorganic ions

open access: yesScience and Technology of Advanced Materials, 2021
The present study aims to develop a layered zirconium phosphate/phosphonate (LZP) powder to control the release of therapeutic inorganic ions. Organically modified LZPs were successfully prepared with various contents of phenyl groups via a reflux method

XPS investigation of DNA binding to zirconium-phosphonate surfaces

open access: yesColloids and Surfaces B: Biointerfaces, 2007
The surface coverage of phosphorylated oligonucleotides immobilized on a zirconium-phosphonate surface was analyzed using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). By quantifying the intensity of the N 1s signal originating from the oligonucleotide and the Zr 3d peak from the metal-phosphonate surface, the surface coverage of the oligonucleotide could be
