Smart Self‐Healing Anode/Electrolyte Interphases for Stabilizing Zn Anode

Advanced Materials
AbstractThe rational design of Zn anode/electrolyte interphases (AEIs) is an effective strategy for regulating the Zn2+ stripping/plating process, as well as suppressing the interfacial side reactions. However, the formation of defects during the cycling process is still inevitable, and the exacerbation of defects would lead to the failure of the ...

Fulfilling the High Capacity of Zn Anodes in Rechargeable Alkaline Zn Batteries

ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2023
A Zn anode in an alkaline electrolyte is often discharged to a shallow depth for an adequate cycle life. It limits the overall cell energy density and undermines its competitiveness against ever-improving lithium-ion cells. Our lab has been pushing the capacity limit of the alkaline Zn anode by understanding its failure mechanism and designing ...

Calendar Life of Zn Batteries Based on Zn Anode with Zn Powder/Current Collector Structure

Advanced Energy Materials, 2021
AbstractZn foil is widely used for studying the stability and dendrite formation behavior of Zn anodes. The reported long cycling life of rechargeable Zn batteries (RZBs) is obtained by testing a battery immediately after its fabrication neglecting the aging effects.

Anodic oxidation of Mg–Cu and Mg–Zn alloys

Electrochimica Acta, 2004
Metastable, solid–solution Mg-0.8 at.% Cu and Mg-1.4 at.% Zn alloys have been anodized up to 250 V at 10 mA cm−2 in an alkaline phosphate electrolyte at 293 K in order to investigate the enriching of alloying elements beneath the anodic films. Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy (RBS) revealed enrichments to about 4.1×1015 Cu atoms cm−2 and 5.2×1015

The surface-modified effects of Zn anode with CuO in Zn-air batteries

Applied Surface Science, 2019
Abstract Copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) can be used to prevent dendrite formation and increase the reversibility of Zn anode. The zinc surface was modified with CuO and the Cu source used was copper nitrate. It also contained 0.1 wt%, 0.5 wt%, 1.0 wt%, and 3.0 wt% CuO by weight of zinc.

Maltose Additive Enables Compacted Deposition of Zn Ions for Stabilizing the Zn Anode

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces
Aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) have emerged as one of the most promising energy storage technologies due to their high safety and cost-effectiveness. However, several challenges associated with the Zn metal anode, such as dendrite growth, corrosion, and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), have hindered further applications of AZIBs. Herein, maltose (
