Dendrites in Zn‐Based Batteries

Advanced Materials, 2020
AbstractAqueous Zn batteries that provide a synergistic integration of absolute safety and high energy density have been considered as highly promising energy‐storage systems for powering electronics. Despite the rapid progress made in developing high‐performance cathodes and electrolytes, the underestimated but non‐negligible dendrites of Zn anode ...

Insights into Zn anode surface chemistry for dendrite-free Zn ion batteries

Journal of Materials Chemistry A, 2022
The zinc-ophobic tetramethylammonium sulfate electrolyte additive and zinc-ophilic ZnO@Cu artificial layer are used to inhibit Zn corrosion and dendrite growth.

Zn/ZnO dendrites arising the heat-treatment of Zn dendrites and their photocatalytic reduction of Cr(VI)

Materials Research Bulletin, 2018
Abstract An electrodeposition-calcination route was designed for the preparation of Zn/ZnO dendrites in this work. Zn dendrites were first deposited at room temperature via a potentiostatic electrodeposition route at the potential of −1.5 V for 10 min. Then, Zn/ZnO dendrites were obtained through calcining Zn dendrites in air at 100–400 °C for 30 min.

Manipulating Uniform Nucleation to Achieve Dendrite-Free Zn Anodes for Aqueous Zn-Ion Batteries

ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2021
The essence of Zn dendrite formation is ultimately derived from Zn nucleation and growth during the repeated Zn plating/stripping process. Here, the nucleation process of Zn has been analyzed using ex situ scanning electron microscopy to explore the formation of the initial Zn dendrite, demonstrating that the formation of tiny protrusions (the initial ...

Dendritic growth of ZnS crystals

Acta Physica Academiae Scientiarum Hungaricae, 1965
The dendritic growth of ZnS crystals in the form of long ribbons, plates and needles was observed when ZnS crystallized from liquid Ga. The cubic ribbons and plates propagated in the directions, the needles were hexagonal and their main propagation was parallel to the c-axis.
