Growth of ZnO nanostructures on Si by means of plasma immersion ion implantation and deposition [PDF]
Crystalline zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures have been grown on Si substrates by means of Plasma Based Ion Implantation and Deposition (PIII&D) at temperature of about 300 0C and in the presence of an argon glow discharge. In the process a crucible filled

Crystal Structure of Two Zinc Thiocyanate Hexamethylenetetramine Adducts, Zn(SCN)2 · (C6H12N4)2 and {Zn(SCN)2 · C6H12N4 · 2H2O}n with Differently Coordinated Zinc Ions [PDF]
Crystals of the adducts Zn(SCN)2 · (C6H12N4)2 (1), and {Zn(SCN)2 · C6H12N4 · 2H2O}n (2) were obtained by crystallization from aqueous solutions containing hexamethylenetetramine, potassium thiocyanate and zinc nitrate or zinc sulfate, resp., under ...

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Powder metal processing provides scalable advantages in nanoporous (np) metal development. Mechanical alloying is used to produce unique precursors for hybrid nanopore formation by oxide reduction and dealloying. As demonstrated in np Ag, this approach improves process efficiency while promoting smaller ligaments and larger pores, both of which are ...

Microstructure and chemical composition of Roman orichalcum coins emitted after the monetary reform of Augustus (23 B.C.) [PDF]
A collection of ancient Roman orichalcum coins, i.e., a copper-zinc alloy, minted under the reigns from Caesar to Domitianus, have been characterised using scanning electron microscopy (SEM-EDS) and electron microprobe analysis (EMPA).

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...
