High-Order Waveguide Modes in ZnO Nanowires

open access: yesNano Letters, 2007
We use tapered silica fibers to inject laser light into ZnO nanowires with diameters around 250 nm to study their waveguiding properties. We find that high-order waveguide modes are frequently excited and carry significant intensity at the wire surface.

Electronic Structure, Optical and Sensor Properties of ZnO Nanowires [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2016
Density functional theory calculations of structural, electronic and optical properties of nanowires ZnO were performed. The obtained results are showing that the band gap increase with the decrease of the ZnO nanowire size.

Nanofabrication on ZnO nanowires [PDF]

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2006
ZnO nanowires were subjected to convergent electron beam irradiation in a 300kV transmission electron microscope. The size of perforated hexagonal pores generated by irradiation can vary with the beam size. An irradiated area is denuded layer by layer via removal of Zn and O atoms. The polar ZnO surfaces have a higher resistance to irradiation than the

Enhanced Visible Light Photocatalytic Activity of ZnO Nanowires Doped with Mn2+ and Co2+ Ions

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2017
In this research, ZnO nanowires doped with Mn2+ and Co2+ ions were synthesized through a facile and inexpensive hydrothermal approach, in which Mn2+ and Co2+ ions successfully substituted Zn2+ in the ZnO crystal lattice without changing the morphology ...

Synthesis and Characterization of ZnO Nanowires by Thermal Oxidation of Zn Thin Films at Various Temperatures

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
In this research high-quality zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowires have been synthesized by thermal oxidation of metallic Zn thin films. Metallic Zn films with thicknesses of 250 nm have been deposited on a glass substrate by the PVD technique.
