Earthworm coelomocytes as nanoscavenger of ZnO NPs [PDF]

open access: yesNanoscale Research Letters, 2014
Abstract Earthworms can ‘biotransform’ or ‘biodegrade’ chemical contaminants, rendering them harmless in their bodies, and can bioaccumulate them in their tissues. They ‘absorb’ the dissolved chemicals through their moist ‘body wall’ due to the interstitial water and also ingest by ‘mouth’ while soil passes through the gut.

Optical and structural properties of ZnO NPs and ZnO–Bi2O3 nanocomposites

open access: yesCeramics International, 2022
Abstract Pure ZnO and ZnO–Bi2O3 nanocomposites with 5 wt% and 10 wt% of Bi2O3 content were synthesized using the co-precipitation method. Optical properties such as refractive index (n), extinction coefficient (k), bandgap (Eg), and Urbach energies, as well as the band structure, were determined by modeling the experimental transmittance and ...

Esculetin and Fucoidan Attenuate Autophagy and Apoptosis Induced by Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles through Modulating Reactive Astrocyte and Proinflammatory Cytokines in the Rat Brain

open access: yesToxics, 2022
We examined the protective effects of esculetin and fucoidan against the neurotoxicity of ZnO NPs in rats. Ninety rats were divided into nine groups and pre-treated with esculetin or fucoidan 1 h before ZnO NP administration on a daily basis for 2 weeks.

Interaction of Ras Binding Domain (RBD) by chemotherapeutic zinc oxide nanoparticles: Progress towards RAS pathway protein interference.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2020
Zinc oxide (ZnO) NP is considered as a nanoscale chemotherapeutic. Thus, the drug delivery of this inorganic NP is of considerable importance. Ras mutations are common in cancer and the activation of this signaling pathway is a hallmark in carcinoma ...
