The Simulation of Failure Modes on ZnO Varistors
IEEJ Transactions on Power and Energy, 2008There are three main failure modes of ZnO varistors; thermal runaway, puncture and cracking. It is important from the operational point of view for user of ZnO surge arresters to know the fundamental mechanisms of these failure modes. I led many equations on these failures and simulated failure modes.

Photoluminescence study of ZnO varistor stability
Journal of Electronic Materials, 1995Photoluminescence (PL) measurements were carried out on commercial ZnO varistor samples that were electrically stressed and/or annealed at different temperatures. Changes in the intensity of green and yellow luminescence centers were studied as a function of annealing treatment.

Dopant Effects to Pores in ZnO Varistors
2006 IEEE 8th International Conference on Properties and applications of Dielectric Materials, 2006Pore is an intrinsic property of ZnO varistor. There are two different shapes of pores in ZnO varistor samples, one is sphere shape, and another is irregular polyhedron. Pores are caused by air particles wrapped in initial varistor compact and grains-surrounded spaces during the sintering. By analyzing the pore phenomena in two different systems of ZnO

ZnO varistors for liquid crystal displays
Journal of Applied Physics, 1982ZnO varistors are excellent materials for multiplexing dichroic liquid crystal displays. We describe here the development of varistor materials tailored for this application. The varistors are large (∼25 cm diameter), uniform, and have relatively low dielectric constant.

Grain junction properties of ZnO varistors
Applications of Surface Science, 1979Abstract Grain-grain junctions in ZnO varistor ceramics were electrically contacted by conventional photoresist- and contact deposition techniques and investigated in terms of the statistical distribution of the breakdown voltage. Its maximum appears at 3.4 V for constant current of 5 μA.

Evolution of Physical Models for ZnO-Varistors
1985The highly nonlinear conduction mechanism in ZnO based ceramics has attracted growing interest during the past decade. With increasing experimental experience model approaches have drifted from mechanisms related to massive non-zinc oxide intergranular layers like space charge limited current or Nordheim-Fowler tunneling to grain boundary effects where
