Adaptation of Bathynellacea (Crustacea, Syncarida) to Life in the Interstitial (“Zoea Theory”)

Internationale Revue der gesamten Hydrobiologie und Hydrographie, 1981
AbstractThis study aims at demonstrating that the Bathynellacea arose by neoteny from a zoea‐like ancestor (“Zoea Theory”). Bathynellacea basically have a larval morphology. Their post‐embryonic development passes through phases which are directly comparable with some in the development of primitive Eucarida.

Preliminary experiments on the cryopreservation of penaeid shrimp (Penaeus japonicus) embryos, nauplii and zoea.

Theriogenology, 1998
To improve availability of penaeid seedstock during periods of high demand, experiments were conducted to determine the feasibility of stockpiling embryos by freezing them. Embryos were screened for developmental stage; cryoprotectants, chilling effects, and freezing regimens were likewise evaluated.

Exploration of the death causes in zoea stages of Macrobrachium rosenbergii based on microbial diversity analysis

, 2020
To investigate the cause of low survival rates of Macrobrachium rosenbergii zoea in a breeding farm, traditional bacterial isolation, culture, and infection experiments were carried out. Survival rates were determined after antibacterial (oxytetracycline)

Enterobacter cloacae associated with mass mortality in zoea of giant freshwater prawns Macrobrachium rosenbergii and control with specific chicken egg yolk immunoglobulins (IgY)

Aquaculture, 2019
Outbreaks of mass mortality among cultured zoea of M. rosenbergii occurred in different hatcheries of Gaoyou country of China in April 2017. Of the isolates obtained from the diseased zoea, XL3–1 was pathogenic to the zoea and postlarva of M. rosenbergii

The colour change of the zoea of the shrimp, crangon crangon L.

Experientia, 1953

Nucleus patterns of zoea I larvae (Crustacea: Decapoda) in the context of taxonomy

Zootaxa, 2010
Using DAPI as a nucleus marker, we studied zoeas of 6 decapods (Palaemon adspersus Rathke, 1837; Palaemon elegans Rathke, 1837; Porcellana platycheles (Pennant, 1777); Pisidia longicornis (Linnaeus, 1767); Xantho hydrophilus (Herbst, 1780) Xantho pilipes A.

Semi Automated Rack Collection of Brachyuran Crab Zoea in a Spawner Unit

Arab Gulf Journal of Scientific Research, 2014
The design and operation of a small research scale berried female rearing system for the collection of brachyuran first formed zoea in high quality and quantity are described in the present paper. The envisaged novel zoea collection system discloses a tray shelf system with an aqua terrarium on the upper shelf with provision of an accessible dry zone ...
