Ablation of Unilateral Hippocampal GABAergic Neurons: A Novel Mouse Model of Mesial Temporal Lobe Epilepsy With Hippocampal Sclerosis

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 2, February 2026.
A novel mouse model of mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) with hippocampal sclerosis (HS) by unilateral, partial ablation of hippocampal GABAergic neurons is established. The model recapitulates key features of the human condition, including spontaneous recurrent seizures, HS‐like pathology, and associated cognitive deficits.

segcsvdPVS: A Convolutional Neural Network‐Based Tool for Quantification of Enlarged Perivascular Spaces (PVS) on T1‐Weighted Images

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 2, February 1, 2026.
segcsvdPVS is a novel convolutional neural network (CNN)‐based perivascular spaces (PVS) segmentation tool for T1‐weighted images based on a hierarchical segmentation framework developed with strategically designed inputs and robust training. It demonstrates high accuracy, consistent performance, and improved detection of age‐related changes in PVS ...

From Aid Dependency to Self‐Reliance: Lessons From Sierra Leone and Rwanda's Strategies for Eliminating Preventable Blindness in Africa: A Perspective Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Preventable blindness remains a leading cause of disability in low‐income countries (LICs), with 91.5% of cases in Sierra Leone and 83.9% in Rwanda considered avoidable. Reliance on foreign aid has supported eye care development in Africa, yet has also fostered systemic dependency.

Reducing response bias in reports of trauma and posttraumatic stress disorder: An application of the nonverbal response card in a survey of youth in Burkina Faso

open access: yesJournal of Traumatic Stress, Volume 39, Issue 1, Page 57-65, February 2026.
Abstract Response bias for sensitive questions in face‐to‐face interviewer‐administered surveys is a common problem. Our objective was to evaluate the effectiveness of the nonverbal response card (NVRC) in soliciting responses to questions about lifetime trauma exposure and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms.
