Off-line scheduling with forbidden zones
Computers & Operations Research, 2013In various manufacturing and computing environments there may be certain time intervals, during which processing may continue but may not be initiated. We examine the problem of off-line scheduling in the presence of such forbidden zones. The problem is closely related to a one-dimensional open-end bin packing problem.

On-Line Zone Construction in Arrangements of Lines in the Plane
1999Given a finite set L of lines in the plane we wish to compute the zone of an additional curve γ in the arrangement A(L), namely the set of faces of the planar subdivision induced by the lines in L that are crossed by γ, where γ is not given in advance but rather provided on-line portion by portion.

SUMMARYThe black lines of Polyporus squamosus have been found in the wood of elms. Isolations were made from these lines and an account of the development of P. squamosus in artificial culture is given. Particular mention is made of the formation of black plates, or lines as they appear in section, in culture media and of the appearance of abnormal ...

AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF ON-LINE METHODS FOR ZONE CONSTRUCTION IN ARRANGEMENTS OF LINES IN THE PLANE
International Journal of Computational Geometry & Applications, 2003Given a finite set ℒ of lines in the plane we wish to compute the zone of an additional curve γ in the arrangement [Formula: see text], namely the set of faces of the planar subdivision induced by the lines in ℒ that are crossed by γ, where γ is not given in advance but rather provided on-line portion by portion.

The Transitional Zone in the Epithelium Lining the Mouse Epiglottis
Cells Tissues Organs, 1987The epithelium lining the caudal surface of the mouse epiglottis occupies the transitional zone between the keratinized stratified squamous epithelium, continuing from the oral cavity, and the ciliated columnar epithelium, extending into the laryngeal cavity.

A mortar for lining coke batteries by zones
Refractories, 1993A dinas mortar has been developed for lining coke batteries by zones, for the low-temperature zones with addition of 5% borax and for the high-temperature with addition of 2% borax.

Digital in-line X-ray holography with zone plates
Ultramicroscopy, 2011Single pulse imaging with radiation provided by free-electron laser sources is a promising approach towards X-ray microscopy, which is expected to provide high resolution images of biological samples unaffected by radiation damage. One fully coherent imaging technique for this purpose is digital in-line holography.
