Co-design of a marine protected area zoning and the lessons learned from it

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2022
Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are a tool to safeguard marine natural systems, yet their effectiveness depends on how well they are integrated into the existing socioeconomic context.

Microglial dynamics and ferroptosis induction in human iPSC‐derived neuron–astrocyte–microglia tri‐cultures

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A tri‐culture of iPSC‐derived neurons, astrocytes, and microglia treated with ferroptosis inducers as an Induced ferroptosis model was characterized by scRNA‐seq, cell survival, and cytokine release assays. This analysis revealed diverse microglial transcriptomic changes, indicating that the system captures key aspects of the complex cellular ...

Mapping Land Subsidence Hazard through InSAR (Case study: Kashmar and Khalil Abad plain) [PDF]

open access: yesمدیریت بیابان, 2019
Measuring of subsidence is often challenging due to the gradual occurrence in large-scale, and advanced measuring techniques are required. The first foresighted consequence of this catastrophic phenomenon is irreversible loss of aquifer reservoir ...

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

ICE EFFECT ON COAST AND SEABED IN BAYDARATSKAYA BAY, KARA SEA

open access: yesGeography, Environment, Sustainability, 2013
For the engineering design of underwater pipelines and communication cables in freezing seas, reliable estimates of the frequency and penetration depth of ice-keel scour on the seabed and shoreface are required.

Assessment and Zonation of Groundwater Quality in Mosafer Abad Plain of Hormozgan Province by Spatial Interpolation Approach [PDF]

open access: yesمدیریت بیابان, 2013
A major part of ground water resources is used for irrigation of farm lands. So appropriate management should be applied considered for application of these limited resources.

Chameleon sequences reveal structural effects in proteins representing micelle‐like distribution of hydrophobicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amino acids sequence of two different proteins with the same sequence (chameleon sequence—black boxes) represent in 3D structure of the proteins different secondary structures: HHHH—helical and BBB—Beta‐structural. The chains folded in water environment adopt different III‐order structures in which the chameleon fragments appear to adopt similar status

À quoi sert la planification urbaine au Maroc ? Continuité et renouvellement d’une mise sous-contrôle des périphéries métropolitaines

open access: yesTerritoire en Mouvement
The tension between planning and project-based urban planning is a classic debate in spatial planning. This tension is reinforced by the major transformations of Moroccan cities, particularly in their peripheries.

Experiences With Governance in Three Marine Conservation Zoning Initiatives: Parameters for Assessment and Pathways Forward

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2020
In this perspective paper, we examine the challenges of governance in three marine conservation settings where rights, access to resources and zoning intersect with changing social and ecological conditions: (1) Tsitsikamma Marine Protected Area in South
