AbstractThis chapter reviews evidence for gradients not only in marine parasite diversity, but also for gradients in reproductive strategies, host specificity and latitudinal ranges. Concerning gradients with depth, relative species diversity of monogeneans is several times greater in surface than in deep waters off eastern Australia.

Phylogenetic System and Zoogeography of the Plecoptera

▪ Abstract  Information about the phylogenetic relationships of Plecoptera is summarized. The few characters supporting monophyly of the order are outlined. Several characters of possible significance for the search for the closest relatives of the stoneflies are discussed, but the sister-group of the order remains unknown.
