Eriope barrinhae (Lamiaceae, Hyptidinae), a new montane species from northern Minas Gerais, Brazil
In northern Minas Gerais, in the Monte Azul region, the Pico da Formosa mountain remains poorly explored botanically despite recent discoveries of new taxa. During fieldwork at the summit of this mountain, we discovered a distinctive population of Eriope that differs from all known species by a unique combination of morphological characters.

This study provides new insights into how ecological conditions influence the evolution of host‐associated symbiotic communities and their functional roles. The findings suggest that pathogen pressures linked to nesting habits in birds shape bacterial communities of the uropygial gland, and their connection with the skin microbiome, where the ...

Abstract This study investigated the effects of continuous refrigeration (4°C ± 2°C and 50% ± 5% RH) on the development and survival of immature stages (eggs, first, second, and third instar larvae, and pupae) of four forensically important blowfly species (Chrysomya megacephala, Chrysomya putoria, Hemilucilia segmentaria, and Lucilia cuprina) compared

Male weaponry evolution is often linked to male–male competition, but its relationship with breeding site type remains unclear. Using Leptodactylinae frogs, we found a macroevolutionary correlation between breeding site type and weapon evolution. Also, gains and losses of weapons occurred more frequently in exposed‐breeding sites, an unexpected finding.

Apicoplast genomic content and mitochondrial genomic content were found to be strongly correlated (rho = 0.93) for infections going from low to high. Apicoplast and mitochondrial genomic content were deemed as more predictive factors of parasitemia for different infection intensities.

Avian haemosporidian blood parasites are typically identified through Sanger sequencing of a partial cytochrome b fragment, the MalAvi barcoding region. Next‐generation sequencing is seldom used for avian blood parasite identification; this study demonstrates a higher detection rate of co‐infections via metabarcoding and its possible implications ...

Contrariamente a uma opinião comum, o Homem não foi apenas e nem sempre destruidor das outras espécies. Certamente ele destruiu bastante, mas também protegeu de maneira considerável.

We investigated how three rodent species respond to the seasonal availability of Araucaria angustifolia seeds. While Oligoryzomys spp. increased seed consumption and abundance during seed production, the more insectivorous Akodon paranaensis maintained a broader diet.
