Detection and Zoonotic Implications of Shiga Toxin–Producing Escherichia coli in Black Bengal Goats in Bangladesh

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
Low prevalence of STEC was detected in Black Bengal goats in Bangladesh; however, isolates carrying stx2, ehxA, saa, and subA highlight the presence of atypical strains with zoonotic potential. Identified risk factors emphasize the need for enhanced surveillance and improved farm hygiene practices to mitigate public health risks.

In Vitro Antiparasitic Effects of Silver Nanoparticles on Sarcocystis Bradyzoites

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 4, July 2026.
In vitro, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) exhibit dose and time‐dependent antiparasitic activity against Sarcocystis bradyzoites from sheep, achieving up to 59.53% mortality at 800 µg/mL after 120 min. These results suggest AgNPs may be a potential alternative to traditional drugs, meriting further in vivo investigation for veterinary use.

Contemporary disasters may not kill more women than men: an empirical inquiry into sex‐differentiated fatalities in the twenty‐first century

open access: yesDisasters, Volume 50, Issue 3, July 2026.
Abstract This study investigates the claim that women are disproportionately more likely to die in disasters by reviewing existing data sources and compiling new datasets on sex‐differentiated disaster fatalities in the twenty‐first century. The analysis is structured by disaster type, covering geophysical, meteorological, climatological, hydrological,
