Sampling Zooplankton: Correction
Science, 1995We have learned that there is an internal inconsistency in the zooplankton dataset used in our report "Climatic warming and the decline of zooplankton in the California Current" (3 Mar., p. 1324) ( 1 ). Four isomeric phytadienes have been isolated from mixed zooplankton of the Gulf of Maine. The chemical structures suggest that the mixture is derived by dehydration of phytol (presumably by acid catlysis), which is present in the diet of the zooplankton.
