Genetic parameters of mule ducks meat and fatty liver performances simultaneously estimated in both parental liness : [Preprint] [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Genetic parameters of traits related to hepatic lipid metabolism, carcass composition and products quality of overfed mule ducks were estimated on both parental lines of this hybrid: the "common duck" line (C), for the maternal side and the "Muscovy ...

Regional Eradication of From Pig Herds and Documentation of Freedom of the Disease [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
The objectives of this study were to 1) screen all sow herds in a region for M. hyopneumoniae, 2) to effectuate an eradication programme in all those herds which were shown to be infected with M.

First report of a Buchananella hordeovulneris–associated pyothorax in a feline leukaemia virus‐positive cat

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, May 2026.
Abstract A 10‐month‐old, neutered, male domestic shorthair cat with outdoor access was presented with a thoracic wound, severe respiratory distress, cachexia, dehydration and pleural effusion. Imaging confirmed bilateral pyothorax. Haematology showed marked neutrophilia with left shift, mild anaemia, thrombocytopenia and lymphocytosis.

Stayability in the Era of Early‐Challenged Females: Genetic Parameters and Correlations With Economically Relevant Traits

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 3, Page 422-430, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to estimate the variance components, heritabilities and genetic correlations between four new different categories of stayability (STAY48‐2, STAY48‐3, STAY54‐2, STAY54‐3) with weight at 240 days of age (W240), weight at 450 days of age (W450), scrotal circumference at 365 days of age (SC365), age at puberty in males (APM ...

Impact of bioactive substances on the gastrointestinal tract and performance of weaned piglets: a review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The EU ban on in-feed antibiotics has stimulated research on weaning diets as a way of reducing post-weaning gut disorders and growth check in pigs. Many bioactive components have been investigated but only few have shown to be effective.

Genetic Parameter Estimation for Plasma Biomarkers Associated With Energy Reserves During Critical Physiological Stages in Sheep

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 3, Page 443-456, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The ability of ruminants to mobilise and restore body reserves (BR) over time, referred to as BR dynamics, is currently considered an interesting biological component to be included in breeding programs targeting enhanced BR resilience. However, genetic studies of proxies for BR levels and BRD remain scarce, particularly in small ruminants ...

Scientific Opinion on Safety and efficacy of Protural (sodium benzoate) as feed additive for weaned piglets

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2011
The feed additive Protural consists of sodium benzoate without carrier materials. It is intended for use in weaned piglets from weaning to 120 days of age (or 35 kg bw) at a dose of 4000 mg/kg complete feedingstuffs.

Manipulating the ensilage of wilted, unchopped grass through the use of additive treatments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
peer-reviewedBaled silage composition frequently differs from that of comparable conventional precision-chop silage. The lower final concentration of fermentation products in baled silage makes it more conducive to the activities of undesirable ...

Impact of Model Parameterisation and Variance Component Estimates on Genomic Predictions of Carcass Traits in Montana Composite Cattle

open access: yesJournal of Animal Breeding and Genetics, Volume 143, Issue 3, Page 431-442, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study evaluated the influence of variance component (VC) estimates, obtained from different models and two relationship matrices, pedigree‐based (BLUP) and genomic information‐based (ssGBLUP), on genomic predictions of carcass traits in Montana composite cattle.
