Mitochondrial genomes of four slug moths (Lepidoptera, Limacodidae): Genome description and phylogenetic implications. [PDF]

open access: yesEcol Evol
In this study, we sequenced the mitochondrial genomes of Parasa lepida, Phlossa conjuncta, Thosea sinensis, and Setora sinensis, and performed the first comparative genomic analyses of Limacodidae. The use of the ATT start codon by the cox1 gene in P. lepida is the first documented use of this start codon in Limacodidae mitogenomes. Within Zygaenoidea,

Diversity of burnet moths (Lepidoptera: Zygaenidae) on Mountain Koritnik, Kosovo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The aim of this paper is to present the first data on the diversity of the moth family Zygaenidae, on Koritnik Mountain in Kosovo. Although this mountain is a biodiversity hotspot, no study of Zygaenidae has ever been conducted. During our survey in 2021

Synthesis and field testing of esters of (2R)-butan-2-ol and (2S)-butan-2-ol and monounsaturated fatty acids as sex attractants for the males of Procridinae species (Lepidoptera: Zygaenidae)

open access: yesSHILAP, 2023
In the family Zygaenidae (Lepidoptera) with more than 1000 species a complete chemical analysis of the structure of female sex pheromones has been carried out for only three species of the subfamily Procridinae while sex attractants have been found for ...

New records of Zygaenidae (Lepidoptera) from Montenegro

open access: yesHistoria Naturalis Bulgarica, 2020
Four areas in Montenegro were visited at the end of June - beginning of July 2020. We found 12 species of Zygaenidae. Second records for Adscita statices drenowskii (Alberti, 1939) and Jordanita globulariae (Hübner, 1793) for Montenegro are provided here.

The Importance of Direct and Indirect Trophic Interactions in Determining the Presence of a Locally Rare Day-Flying Moth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Ecosystem engineers affect other organisms by creating, maintaining or modifying habitats, potentially supporting species of conservation concern. However, it is important to consider these interactions alongside non-engineering trophic pathways.

Sexual communication in day-flying Lepidoptera with special reference to castniids or 'butterfly-moths' [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Butterflies and moths are subject to different evolutionary pressures that affect several aspects of their behaviour and physiology, particularly sexual communication. Butterflies are day-flying insects (excluding hedylids) whose partner-finding strategy
