Chondromyxoid Fibroma of the Zygoma

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 1992
A case of chondromyxoid fibroma (CMF) involving the zygoma is presented. To our knowledge, this case report represents the first description of CMF involving an extragnathic site in the facial skeleton exclusive of the cranium. Total excision and immediate reconstruction were done with alloplastic material fixated with microplates and screws.

Unusual cyst of the zygoma

Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 1982
An unusual cyst of the zygoma is described. Three patterns of development of the cyst are suggested, namely: 1. Residual cyst of retained deciduous roots with metaplasia of the odontogenic epithelium into respiratory epithelium. 2. Fissural cyst of the zygomatico-maxillary suture. 3. Connection to the maxillary sinus, by a developmental exvagination or

Primary Hemangioma of the Zygoma

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1965
HEMANGIOMATA are common; however, their occurrence as primary tumors within the skeletal system is extremely rare. 3,4,6,9,13,14,16 According to Wyke, 16 the general incidence of hemangiomata of bone is 0.7% of osseous neoplasms. In a series of 1,831 bone tumors recorded at the Registry of Bone Sarcoma, only 13 were hemangiomata.

Secondary Repair of the Zygoma

Facial Plastic Surgery, 2017
AbstractSecondary deformities of the zygoma are a rare entity, thanks to the adoption and refinement of open reduction and internal fixation techniques. These injuries are often difficult to treat due to the unique structural, functional, and aesthetic properties of the zygoma.

Primary tuberculous osteomyelitis of zygoma

International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2006
Osteomyelitis of zygomatic bone is rare, and tuberculous osteomyelitis is even rarer. This is the case report of a 3-year-old child presenting with a discharging sinus and swelling on the zygoma, which was initially thought to be orbital cellulitis.

Ophthalmic outcomes of fractured zygomas

British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, 2015
In patients with fractures of the zygomatic complex, computed tomography (CT) often identifies extensive defects in the orbital floor. Some surgeons recommend routine exploration and repair of these defects during repair of the zygoma, while others advocate a more selective approach, but there is a paucity of evidence either way.

Rapid Intraoperative Zygoma Fracture Imaging

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 2009
A fractured zygoma frequently results in an aesthetically displeasing facial asymmetry. Open reduction and internal fixation may accurately realign the facial skeleton but often with undesirable sequelae. The authors' objective was to develop a precise technique of intraoperative zygoma fracture imaging using a C-arm to permit anatomical fracture ...
