Birth weight in a large series of triplets

open access: yesBMC Pediatrics, 2011
Background Triplets are often born premature and with a low birth weight. Because the incidence of triplet births is rare, there are relatively few studies describing triplet birth weight characteristics.

Genetic Variants of Na+,K+‐ATPase Associated With Neurological Disorders: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part B: Neuropsychiatric Genetics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Neurological disorders encompass a wide range of severe symptoms and manifestations, many of which are associated with genetic variants that affect ionic homeostasis. Na+,K+‐ATPase, a transmembrane enzyme responsible for maintaining electrochemical gradients in cells, plays a crucial role in neuronal excitability and brain function.

Monochorionic Diamniotic Twins with Sex Discordance: Case Series

open access: yesDiagnostics
Background and Clinical Significance: Ultrasonographic diagnosis of twin pregnancies has become routine, with chorionicity playing a crucial role in assessing associated risks. Traditionally, monochorionic (MC) twins were believed to derive from a single

Detection of c.375A>G, c.385A>T, c.571C>T, and sedel2 of FUT2 via Real-Time PCR in a Single Tube

open access: yesDiagnostics, 2023
α(1,2)fucosyltransferase (Se enzyme) encoded by FUT2 is involved in the secretor status of ABH(O) blood group antigens. The sedel2 allele is one of the non-functional FUT2 (se) alleles in which 9.3 kb, containing the entire coding region of FUT2, is ...

From Interferon Signature to the Clinical Landscape: Type I Interferonopathies

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective TypeI interferonopathies are heterogeneous diseases driven by dysregulated type I interferon (IFN‐I) signaling. Diagnosis is challenging due to clinical/molecular variability and the need for IFN‐I quantification. The aim of this study was to characterize the clinical, immunologic, genetic, molecular profiles of patients with suspected ...

High throughput single-cell detection of multiplex CRISPR-edited gene modifications

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2020
CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing has transformed our ability to rapidly interrogate the functional impact of somatic mutations in human cancers. Droplet-based technology enables the analysis of Cas9-introduced gene edits in thousands of single cells.

Electroclinical phenotypes—genetic characterization of developmental and epileptic encephalopathies in a cohort study

open access: yesEpileptic Disorders, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (DEEs) are characterized by refractory seizures and frequently recurring epileptic activity with neurodevelopmental delay or regression that usually begin in early life. We aimed to define the relationship between electroclinical features and etiology, as well as the genotype–phenotype ...

Characteristics of the TwinsUK sample, by zygosity.

open access: yes, 2015
Demographic characteristics of the TwinsUK sample. There were no significant differences in age, BMI or sex between the zygosity groups. TKR represents total knee replacement; THR, hip replacement; TJR, total joint (either knee or hip) replacement.

Oligogenic inheritance in epilepsy: A systematic exome‐wide analysis

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Genetic factors contribute to the majority of epilepsies, but the exact genetic cause remains unknown in most patients. Incomplete penetrance and variable expressivity are frequent, and recent studies showed a burden of deleterious variants in epilepsy genes, suggesting a role for oligogenic inheritance.
