Abstract

Psoriasis is a common, noncontagious, multisystem, inflammatory dermatosis of the skin. The cause is unknown but studies suggest a genetic predisposition for the disorder. It commonly manifests itself on the skin of scalp, lumbosacral areas, intergluteal clefts, pubic regions, and joints such as elbows, knees, wrists, and ankles. Psoriasis affects 1–2 % of the world’s population. It may begin at any age, but is more common in the second or third decade of life.
