Shareholder engagement is the sub-class of shareholder activism, defined as a way for the shareholders to communicate and discuss their perspectives, concerns and ideas with their management, especially the board of directors and executive managers. Shareholders aim to have dialogues with the company, especially with the board of directors, who will receive constructive feedback on how to make improvements on the performance of the company. It also aims to ensure that the investment they made in the companies have an adequate and proper corporate governance and management mechanism. Ultimately, it focuses on bringing the attention of the board of directors and the management team to company changes in the near future.
