Abstract
Nautral interleukin-2 (nIL-2) is a polypeptide which is synthesized and secreted in a nonglycosylated as well as in two glycosylated species. The lymphokine regulates growth and differentiation of lymphocytes. It is produced by T lymphocytes upon antigenic or mitogenic stimulation. Most species of recombinant interleukin-2 (rIL-2) differ from nIL-2 by lack of glycosylation and some also in amino acid sequence. The aim of this investigation was to look by immunoblotting for cross reactivities of antibodies to IL-2 with different preparations of human IL-2. The antibodies were found in the sera of five tumor patients after treatment with nonglycosylated rIL-2.
