Abstract
When Forssmann, in 1929 in Berlin, introduced a catheter into his own right auricle via a cubital vein, he performed the first heart catheterization. He failed, however, to visualize the chambers of the heart when in 1931 he injected an iodide solution. The first researchers who managed to outline the right heart (in children) were Castellanos et al. in Havana, in 1937.
