Stricture of the umbilical cord

  • Published:
The Indian Journal of Pediatrics Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

A case of stricture of the umbilical cord of a foetus about 33 weeks old has been reported. It was located 1.5 cm away from the umbilical attachment. There was no evidence of haemorrhage, inflammation or degeneration. The stricture was due to an abundant growth of fibrous tissue which is probably a dysplastic lesion. There were a few islets of haempoietic foci at and about the site of the stricture.
