Abstract:
Cardiotocography (CTG) is an essential tool to get access to fetal heart rate which indicates the fetal health. Most of the fetal distress symptoms occur prior to the labor. Abnormal changes in the intensity of uterine contractions during labor cause inconvenience to the fetus and result in fetal heart rate variability, abnormal amniotic fluid levels, vaginal bleeding, cramping etc. Continuous monitoring of fetal heart rate and uterine contractions using CTG machine help the doctor to understand the level of fetal distress. Relationship between fetal heart rate and uterine contractions is better understood when they are correlated with respect to time. In the present work, CTG records of both normal and abnormal subjects are collected and digitized using UN-SCAN-IT software. Conditions for abnormal fetal heart rate variability such as tachycardia, bradycardia, meconium etc are considered.
