Abstract:

A new image retrieval method was introduced based on the combination of CBIR (content-based image retrieval) and MD5, after a brief introduction to current status of image retrieval technology. Kernel thought was that MD5 value was extracted from an image file and then indexed. These indexed MD5 values were used for image retrieval. Implementation of the method showed that the new image retrieval method is feasible and good for improvement of accuracy of the image retrieval rate.

1 Introduction

As early as the 1970's, Image Retrieval had given rise to people's interest. Many methods of image retrieval had been advocated since 1980's. But they all belonged to two types of image retrieval technology, Text-Based Image Retrieval(TBIR) and Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR) [1].
