Abstract:
With the increasing availability of data from production processes, the supervision of processes is the focus of increased research- The actual information contained in the data acquired from manufacturing processes is yet not revealed. For stamping processes, especially the cyclic repeating pattern of force, strain, acoustic emission or power consumption signals have been the basis of detailed monitoring systems. However, most of the accomplished work focuses on monitoring and comparing signals of different physical conditions in a controlled environment since they show characteristic changes related to specific condition changes. Yet, punch-to-punch variations in this cyclic signals while the process setup and conditions remain unchanged have not been researched. The goal of an analysis of punch-to-punch variation in stamping processes is to understand not only the impact of these fluctuations onto the workpiece quality and the process stability in general, but also the reasons for the variation. In this paper, the focus is set on introducing a distance based method to firstly detect severe shifts in the process signal resulting from condition changes and secondly observe punch-to-punch variations in stable process phases based on detailed analysis of stamping force signals of the fineblanking process as a representative of stamping processes for the production of workpieces of high quantities.
