We wanted to determine the effect of OSA on children's height, and to correlate this with our previously described study of the effect on their weight.

We reviewed the charts of the children who underwent tonsillectomy and/or adenoidectomy (T&A) for OSA in the years 1994-1995, at the Children's Medical Center of Brooklyn. We recorded their heights and weights at the time of the operation and 6-36 months later. We used the z score for height and weight to assess changes for age over time. We considered postoperative increase or decrease in the z score of >.2 as a significant change.
