Influence of hospital size on antimicrobial resistance and advantages of restricting antimicrobial use based on cumulative antibiograms in dogs with Staphylococcus pseudintermedius infections in Japan

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 32, Issue 6, Page 668-e178, December 2021., 2021
Background Antimicrobial resistance in Staphylococcus pseudintermedius (SP) and the prevalence of meticillin‐resistant SP (MRSP) is increasing in dogs worldwide. Objectives To evaluate the influence of hospital size on antimicrobial resistance of SP and whether restricted use of antimicrobials based on antibiograms could reduce the identification of ...

A semicircle law and decorrelation phenomena for iterated Kolmogorov loops

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 103, Issue 2, Page 558-586, March 2021., 2021
Abstract We consider a standard one‐dimensional Brownian motion on the time interval [0,1] conditioned to have vanishing iterated time integrals up to order N. We show that the resulting processes can be expressed explicitly in terms of shifted Legendre polynomials and the original Brownian motion, and we use these representations to prove that the ...

A blinded, randomized, placebo‐controlled, dose determination trial of lokivetmab (ZTS‐00103289), a caninized, anti‐canine IL‐31 monoclonal antibody in client owned dogs with atopic dermatitis

open access: yesVeterinary Dermatology, Volume 27, Issue 6, Page 478-e129, December 2016., 2016
Background – Pruritus is the hallmark clinical sign of atopic dermatitis (AD) in dogs. Lokivetmab, a caninized anti‐canine IL‐31 monoclonal antibody, reduced pruritus and associated inflammatory skin lesions in a proof of concept study in dogs with AD.

Asymptotics for orthogonal polynomials off the circle

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2004, Issue 1, Page 37-53, 2004., 2004
We study the strong asymptotics of orthogonal polynomials with respect to a measure of the type dμ/2π+∑j=1∞Ajδ(z−zk), where μ is a positive measure on the unit circle Γ satisfying the Szegö condition and {zj} j=1∞ are fixed points outside Γ. The masses {Aj} j=1∞ are positive numbers such that ∑j=1∞Aj<+∞.

Strong asymptotics for Lp extremal polynomials off a complex curve

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2004, Issue 5, Page 371-378, 2004., 2004
We study the asymptotic behavior of Lp(σ) extremal polynomials with respect to a measure of the form σ = α + γ, where α is a measure concentrated on a rectifiable Jordan curve in the complex plane and γ is a discrete measure concentrated on an infinite number of mass points.

On the Krall‐type polynomials

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2004, Issue 5, Page 359-369, 2004., 2004
Using a general and simple algebraic approach, some results on Krall‐type orthogonal polynomials and some of their extensions are obtained.

The second‐order self‐associated orthogonal sequences

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2004, Issue 2, Page 137-167, 2004., 2004
The aim of this work is to describe the orthogonal polynomials sequences which are identical to their second associated sequence. The resulting polynomials are semiclassical of class s ≤ 3. The characteristic elements of the structure relation and of the second‐order differential equation are given explicitly.

Strict positive definiteness on spheres via disk polynomials

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 31, Issue 12, Page 715-724, 2002., 2002
We characterize complex strictly positive definite functions on spheres in two cases, the unit sphere of ℂq, q ≥ 3, and the unit sphere of the complex ℓ2. The results depend upon the Fourier‐like expansion of the functions in terms of disk polynomials and, among other things, they enlarge the classes of strictly positive definite functions on real ...

CONSTRUCTION OF TCHEBYSHEV-II WEIGHTED ORTHOGONAL POLYNOMIALS ON TRIANGULAR

open access: yes, 2015
We construct Tchebyshev-II (second kind) weighted orthogonal polynomials U (γ) n,r (u, v, w), γ > −1, on the triangular domain T. We show that U (γ) n,r (u, v, w), n = 0, 1, 2, . . . , r = 0, 1, . . . , n, form an orthogonal system over T with respect to

Asymptotic behavior of orthogonal polynomials corresponding to a measure with infinite discrete part off an arc

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 26, Issue 8, Page 449-455, 2001., 2001
We study the asymptotic behavior of orthogonal polynomials. The measure is concentrated on a complex rectifiable arc and has an infinity of masses in the region exterior to the arc.
