Early‐stage randomised controlled trial of therapist‐supported online cognitive therapy for post‐traumatic stress disorder in young people

open access: yesJournal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, EarlyView.
Background Effective face‐to‐face treatments for Post‐Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) are available, but most young people with PTSD do not receive effective treatment. Therapist‐supported online Cognitive Therapy has the potential to improve accessibility of effective treatment.

Cumulative life course impairment: Evidence for hidradenitis suppurativa

open access: yesJournal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, EarlyView.
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) severely affects quality of life, work, relationships and mental health. The cumulative life course impairment (CLCI) model highlights how HS disrupts key life decisions. While long‐term studies are needed, evidence suggests certain factors may help protect patients from these impairments. Abstract Hidradenitis suppurativa

Seasonal patterns of neurogenesis in European starlings (Sturnus vulgaris) are region‐ and sex‐specific

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
Abstract Songbird vocal behavior, physiology, and brains—including neurogenesis—change between seasons. We examined seasonal differences in neurogenesis in three brain regions associated with vocal production and learning, HVC (letter‐based proper name), robust nucleus of the arcopallium (RA), and Area X, and two brain regions associated with auditory ...

Single‐cell genomics meets systems neuroscience: Insights from mapping the brain circuitry of stress

open access: yesJournal of Neuroendocrinology, EarlyView.
Abstract Responses to external and internal dangers is essential for survival and homeostatic regulation. Hypothalamic corticotropin‐releasing hormone neurons (CRHNs) play a pivotal role in regulating neuroendocrine responses to fear and stress.

Functional magnetic resonance imaging of taxonomic and thematic processing of abstract and concrete word pairs

open access: yesJournal of Neuropsychology, EarlyView.
Abstract This study used fMRI to examine the effect that the abstract‐concrete dimension may have on the thematic‐taxonomic distinction. The dual hub theory (DHT) posits that left angular gyrus supports thematic relationships and left temporal pole supports taxonomic relationships; however, the DHT is largely based on evidence from concrete words.

Determining Cognitive Performance in Athletes: A Systematic Review Focused on Methodology of Applying Cognitive Tests

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Psychology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although in recent years, there have been many studies to determine the cognitive performance of athletes, there are significant differences in the methodological approaches of these studies. Therefore, this methodology‐focused systematic review aims to analyze the application methods of cognitive test studies with athletes and to provide ...

Orexinergic neurons contribute to autonomic cardiovascular regulation for locomotor exercise

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend This study unveiled the essential role of the orexinergic nervous system in the central circuitry that transmits central command signals for locomotor exercise. We observed the excitation of orexinergic neurons by voluntary locomotor exercise in rats.

Human brain imaging with high‐density electroencephalography: Techniques and applications

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Recent technological advances have elevated high‐density electroencephalography (hdEEG) to the status of a reliable neuroimaging tool. This technique measures scalp potentials with high temporal resolution, which permits the non‐invasive detection and analysis of neural oscillations.

Heartbeat‐related activity in the anterior thalamus differs between phasic and tonic REM sleep

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Periods of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep with or without ocular activity (phasic and tonic REM, respectively), as well as quiet wakefulness of comparable duration were contrasted in terms of interoceptive processing at the thalamic level. Eleven epilepsy patients involved in an anterior thalamus (ANT) deep brain stimulation (DBS)

GABAB Receptor: Structure, Biological Functions, and Therapy for Diseases

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
Within the GABAergic system, GABABRs are potential therapeutic targets for dealing multiple metabolic and binge eating disorders and food addiction. Allosteric modulators and small peptides targeting GABABR signaling pathways may be developed as attractive drug candidates that avoid the side effects of agents that directly bind these receptors ...
