Prostaglandins E and F in Endocrine Diarrheagenic Syndromes
The role of prostaglandins in endocrine diarrheagenic syndromes was evaluated by measuring peripheral concentration of immunoreactive PGE and PGF in patients with non-endocrine diarrhea as well as those with the Zollinger-Ellison (Z-E) syndrome, MCT, carcinoid tumors and the WDHA syndrome. In 21 normals, PGE and PGF levels averaged 272 +/- 18 and 119 +/

Enzymic separatory determination of prostaglandin F and F.
A simple and sensitive method is described for separatory determination of prostaglandin E and prostaglandin F. This method is based on three principles : (1) Prostaglandin E and prostaglandin F are oxidized by prostaglandin dehydrogenase, resulting reduced nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide (NADH).

Colocalization of prostaglandin F2α receptor FP and prostaglandin F synthase-I in the spinal cord [PDF]
Prostaglandin F(2alpha) is synthesized by prostaglandin F synthase, which exists in two types, prostaglandin F synthase I (PGFS I) and prostaglandin F synthase II (PGFS II). Prostaglandin F(2alpha) binds to its specific receptor, FP. Our previous immunohistochemical study showed the distinct localization of prostaglandin F synthases in rat spinal cord.

Prostaglandin F and 13,14-dihydro-15-keto prostaglandin F in the endometrium and uterine flushings of sheep before implantation [PDF]
The concentrations of prostaglandin F (PGF) and its major metabolite, 13,14-dihydro-15-keto prostaglandin F-2 alpha (PGFM), were measured in caruncular and intercaruncular endometrium of pregnant and non-pregnant ewes on Days 9, 11, 13 and 15 after mating (Day 0) and related to the content of PGF and PGFM in the uterine flushings.

Cloning and expression of a cDNA for mouse prostaglandin F receptor.
A functional cDNA clone for mouse prostaglandin (PG) F receptor was isolated from a mouse cDNA library using polymerase chain reaction based on the sequence of cloned prostanoid receptors, and cross-hybridization screening. The mouse PGF receptor consists of 366 amino acid residues with putative seven transmembrane domains.

Long-Interval Prostaglandin F2α Combined with GnRH Improves the Estrus Synchronization and Reproductive Performance of Sheep During the Breeding Season. [PDF]
To improve the efficiency of prostaglandin F2α (PG)-based estrus synchronization in sheep, this study assessed the effect of the gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) included in the long-interval PG treatment regimen for sheep estrus synchronization ...

Insights into the prostanoid pathway in the ovary development of the penaeid shrimp Penaeus monodon. [PDF]
The prostanoid pathway converts polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) into bioactive lipid mediators, including prostaglandins, thromboxanes and prostacyclins, all of which play vital roles in the immune and reproductive systems in most animal phyla.

A heterogeneous mixture of F-series prostaglandins promotes sperm guidance in the Caenorhabditis elegans reproductive tract. [PDF]
The mechanisms that guide motile sperm through the female reproductive tract to oocytes are not well understood. We have shown that Caenorhabditis elegans oocytes synthesize sperm guiding F-series prostaglandins from polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA ...

PROSTAGLANDINS F AND OVULATION IN MICE [PDF]
Prostaglandins (PGs) are known to exert profound physiological and pharmacological effects on the female reproductive system in women and in many other species (Weeks, 1972; Labhsetwar, 1974). Indomethacin and aspirin, inhibitors of prostaglandin biosynthesis, block PMSG-induced ovulation in immature (Armstrong & Grinwich, 1972; Orczyk & Behrman, 1972)

Combined bezafibrate and medroxyprogesterone acetate: potential novel therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia [PDF]
Background: The majority of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) patients are over sixty years of age. With current treatment regimens, survival rates amongst these, and also those younger patients who relapse, remain dismal and novel therapies are urgently ...
