Multiple solutions to a nonlinear elliptic equation involving Paneitz type operators

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, Volume 2004, Issue 46, Page 2453-2472, 2004., 2004
This paper deals with an elliptic equation involving Paneitz type operators on compact Riemannian manifolds with concave‐convex nonlinearities and a real parameter. Nonlocal and multiple existence results are established. Characteristic values of the real parameter are introduced and their role in the change of the energy sign and the existence of ...

Remarks on the boundary curve of a constant mean curvature topological disc [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We discuss some consequences of the existence of the holomorphic quadratic Hopf differential on a conformally immersed constant mean curvature topological disc with analytic boundary.

On the economical solution method for a system of linear algebraic equations

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2004, Issue 4, Page 377-410, 2004., 2004
The present work proposes a novel optimal and exact method of solving large systems of linear algebraic equations. In the approach under consideration, the solution of a system of algebraic linear equations is found as a point of intersection of hyperplanes, which needs a minimal amount of computer operating storage. Two examples are given.

Solutions of nonlinear problems involving p(x)-Laplacian operator

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis, 2015
In the present paper, by using variational principle, we obtain the existence and multiplicity of solutions of a nonlocal problem involving p(x)-Laplacian.

Nonexistence results of solutions to systems of semilinear differential inequalities on the Heisenberg group

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, Volume 2004, Issue 2, Page 155-164, 2004., 2004
We establish nonexistence results to systems of differential inequalities on the (2N + 1)‐Heisenberg group. The systems considered here are of the type (ESm). These nonexistence results hold for N less than critical exponents which depend on pi and γi, 1 ≤ i ≤ m. Our results improve the known estimates of the critical exponent.

Comment on "Removable singularities for solutions of coupled Yang-Mills-Dirac equations" [J. Math. Phys. 47, 103502 (2006)]

open access: yes, 2007
A lemma from elliptic theory is used to improve a recent result by Li concerning the removability of an isolated point singularity from solutions of the coupled Yang-Mills-Dirac equations.Comment: 3 ...

The obstacle problem for the infinity fractional laplacian [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Given g an α-H¨older continuous function defined on the boundary of a bounded domain Ω and given ψ a continuous obstacle defined in Ω, in this article, we find u an α-H¨older extension of g in Ω with u ≥ ψ.

A finite‐dimensional reduction method for slightly supercritical elliptic problems

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, Volume 2004, Issue 8, Page 683-689, 2004., 2004
We describe a finite‐dimensional reduction method to find solutions for a class of slightly supercritical elliptic problems. A suitable truncation argument allows us to work in the usual Sobolev space even in the presence of supercritical nonlinearities: we modify the supercritical term in such a way to have subcritical approximating problems; for ...

Dynamic behavior analysis of a prey-predator model with ratio-dependent Monod-Haldane functional response

open access: yesOpen Mathematics, 2018
This paper investigates the dynamic behavior analysis on the prey-predator model with ratio-dependent Monod-Haldane response function under the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions, which is used to simulate a class of biological system.

Existence results for a fourth order partial differential equation arising in condensed matter physics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We study a higher order parabolic partial differential equation that arises in the context of condensed matter physics. It is a fourth order semilinear equation whose nonlinearity is the determinant of the Hessian matrix of the solution. We consider this
