The breeding program of Latxa breed [PDF]

open access: yesBiotechnology in Animal Husbandry, 2007
The present paper describes the breeding program of Latxa breed in Spain. Latxa?s breeding program has been on-going since 1984 and it is focused on increasing milk yield. As a consequence of its implementation, an annual genetic improvement of 3% in milk yield has obtained. Currently, new traits are being considered in the selection breeding goal.

Physiological breeding

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Plant Biology, 2016
Physiological breeding crosses parents with different complex but complementary traits to achieve cumulative gene action for yield, while selecting progeny using remote sensing, possibly in combination with genomic selection. Physiological approaches have already demonstrated significant genetic gains in Australia and several developing countries of ...

Intercross: An Android app for plant breeding and genetics cross management [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Plant breeding is fundamentally comprised of three cyclic activities: 1) intermating lines to generate novel allelic combinations, 2) evaluation of new plant cultivars in distinct environments, and 3) selection of superior individuals to be used as parents in the next breeding cycle.
