Several Effects Unexplained by QCD
Several new experimental discoveries in high energy proton interactions, yet unexplained by QCD, are discussed in the paper. The increase of the cross sections with increasing energy from ISR to LHC, the correlation between it and the behavior of the ...

Quark propagation in the quark-gluon plasma [PDF]
It has recently been suggested that the quark-gluon plasma formed in heavy-ion collisions behaves as a nearly ideal fluid. That behavior may be understood if the quark and antiquark mean-free- paths are very small in the system, leading to a "sticky molasses" description of the plasma, as advocated by the Stony Brook group.

Quark Number Susceptibility in Hard Thermal Loop Approximation [PDF]
We calculate the quark number susceptibility in the deconfined phase of QCD using the hard thermal loop (HTL) approximation for the quark propagator.

Thermoelectric properties of the (an-)isotropic QGP in magnetic fields
The Seebeck effect and the Nernst effect, which reflect the appearance of electric fields along x-axis and along y-axis ( $$E_{x}$$ E x and $$E_{y}$$ E y ), respectively, induced by the thermal gradient along x-axis, are studied in the QGP at an external

Isovector properties of quark matter and quark stars in an isospin-dependent confining model [PDF]
The confining quark matter (CQM) model, in which the confinement and asymptotic freedom are modeled via the Richardson potential for quark-quark vector interaction and the chiral symmetry restoration at high density is described by the density dependent quark mass, is extended to include isospin dependence of the quark mass.

Parton splitting scales of reclustered large-radius jets in high-energy nuclear collisions
We carry out the first theoretical investigation on yields and the hardest parton splitting of large-radius jets reclustered from small radius ( $$R=0.2$$ R = 0.2 ) anti- $$k_t$$ k t jets in Pb + Pb collisions, and confront them with the recent ATLAS ...

When heavy nuclei collide, a quark-gluon plasma is formed. The plasma is subject to strong electric field due to the charge of the colliding nuclei. The electric field can influence the behavior of the quark-gluon plasma. In particular, we might observe an increased number of quarks moving in the direction of that field, as we do in the standard ...

Jet-medium interaction involves two important effects: jet energy loss and medium response. The search for jet-induced medium excitations is one of the hot topics in jet quenching study in relativistic nuclear collisions.
