The Solar Neutrino Problem [PDF]
The solar neutrino problem has persisted for almost three decades. Recent results from Kamiokande, SAGE, and GALLEX indicate a pattern of neutrino fluxes that is very difficult to reconcile with plausible variations in standard solar models. This situation is reviewed, and suggested particle physics solutions are discussed.

Knowledge as a collective status
Abstract While social epistemology is a diverse field, much of it still understands knowledge as an individual status—albeit an individual status that crucially depends on various social factors (such as testimony). Further, the literature on group knowledge until now has primarily focused on limited, specialized groups that may be said to know this or

The road toward imaging a black hole: A personal perspective
The article describes the authors personal journey towards developig the Event Horizon Telescope and the first image of a black hole. Left: predcition made by the author and collaborators proposing the black hole imaging in 2000. Right: the two images observed and published by the Event Horizon Telescope in 2019 and 2022.

Who's Afraid of the Supersymmetric Dark? The Standard Model vs Low‐Energy Supergravity
Abstract Use of supergravity equations in astronomy and late‐universe cosmology is often criticized on three grounds: (i) phenomenological success usually depends on the supergravity form for the scalar potential applying at the relevant energies; (ii$ii$) the low‐energy scalar potential is extremely sensitive to quantum effects involving very massive ...

Current Status of the Resonant Spin-Flavor Precession Solution to the Solar Neutrino Problem [PDF]
We discuss the current status of the resonant spin-flavor precession (RSFP) solution to the solar neutrino problem. We perform a fit to all the latest solar neutrino data for various assumed magnetic field profiles in the sun.

The Nature of Massive Neutrinos
The compelling experimental evidences for oscillations of solar, reactor, atmospheric, and accelerator neutrinos imply the existence of 3-neutrino mixing in the weak charged lepton current.

Sensitivity of a low threshold directional detector to CNO-cycle solar neutrinos
A first measurement of neutrinos from the CNO fusion cycle in the Sun would allow a resolution to the current solar metallicity problem. Detection of these low-energy neutrinos requires a low-threshold detector, while discrimination from radioactive ...

Mass or Gravitationally Induced Neutrino Oscillations? -- A Comparison of $\B$ Neutrino Flux Spectra in a Three--Generation Framework [PDF]
Both gravitational and mass induced neutrino oscillation mechanisms provide possible resolutions to the Solar Neutrino Problem. The distinguishing feature between the two mechanisms is their dependence on the neutrino energy.
