Identification and purification of an endogenous receptor for the lectin pallidin from Polysphondylium pallidum. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1982
We report the identification and purification of an endogenous carbohydrate-containing receptor of pallidin, the cell surface lectin implicated in mediating cell-cell adhesion in the cellular slime mold Polysphondylium pallidum.

Establishment of a coculture system for Porphyromonas gingivalis and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma using spheroid culture and LATS inhibition

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a spheroid coculture system enabling viable Porphyromonas gingivalis–HNSCC interactions under normoxic conditions. Inhibition of LATS1/2 maintains tumor cells in an undifferentiated state, which may promote spheroid growth and create a more permissive environment for bacterial persistence.

Detection of mecA Gene in the Clinical Isolates of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus

open access: yesSokoto Journal of Medical Laboratory Science, 2021
Resistance coding in Staphylococcus aureus could be phenotypic or genotypic. In genotypic coding, mecA gene codes for the production of the altered penicillin-binding protein responsible for methicillin resistance.

Comparison between bone alkaline phosphatase immunoassay and electrophoresis technique in hemodialysis patients [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Medical Biochemistry, 2020
Background: Problem of the variability between the different methods using for bone alkaline phosphatase (bALP) determination greately influences the clinical significance of bALP as direct marker of bone metabolism.

Diversity and Dynamics of Indigenous \u3cem\u3eRhizobium japonicum\u3c/em\u3e Populations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1980
A simple method, based upon the separation of cellular proteins by sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, has been devised for distinguishing between isolates of Rhizobium japonicum.

Lipid Nanoparticles for the Delivery of CRISPR/Cas9 Machinery to Enable Site‐Specific Integration of CFTR and Mutation‐Agnostic Disease Rescue

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) are optimized to co‐deliver Cas9‐encoding messenger RNA (mRNA), a single guide RNA (sgRNA) targeting the endogenous cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) gene, and homologous linear double‐stranded donor DNA (ldsDNA) templates encoding CFTR.

Metallo-β-lactamase-production in meropenem-susceptible Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates: risk for silent spread

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2012
The aim of this study was to characterize two metallo-β-lactamases (MBLs)-producing Pseudomonas aeruginosa clinical isolates showing meropenem susceptibility.

Evidence that the 36kb plasmid of Brachyspira hyodysenteriae contributes to virulence [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Swine dysentery (SD) results from infection of the porcine large intestine with the anaerobic intestinal spirochaete Brachyspira hyodysenteriae. Recently the genome of virulent Australian B. hyodysenteriae strain WA1 was sequenced, and a 36. kilobase (kb)

Hybrid Microdiscs for Magnetically Induced Non‐Cytotoxic Thermal Actuation and Programmable Biomolecule Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hybrid magnetic microdiscs with customizable size and composition are engineered through refined photolithography and LbL assembly. Embedded Fe3O4 nanoparticles enable localized, non‐cytotoxic heating, while protein cargos can be incorporated in tunable quantities.
