Effective osimertinib treatment in a patient with discordant T790 M mutation detection between liquid biopsy and tissue biopsy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BACKGROUND:We report the successful treatment of the patient with osimertinib 80 mg/day following disease progression and a discordance in the detection of a mechanism of resistance epithelial growth factor receptor (EGFR) T790 M between liquid biopsy ...

TENET 2.0: Identification of key transcriptional regulators and enhancers in lung adenocarcinoma.

open access: yesPLoS Genetics, 2020
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related death and lung adenocarcinoma is its most common subtype. Although genetic alterations have been identified as drivers in subsets of lung adenocarcinoma, they do not fully explain tumor development ...

p40 Immunohistochemistry Is an Excellent Marker in Primary Lung Squamous Cell Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Pathology and Translational Medicine, 2018
Background Lung cancer is the third most common cancer worldwide. With major advances in the molecular testing of lung cancers and the introduction of targeted therapies, the distinction between adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma as well as ...

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Acrometastasis due to Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAdvances in Respiratory Medicine, 2018
We are presenting a case of acrometastasis in a male patient with lung adenocarcinoma. Acrometastases accumulate for 0.1% of all metastatic bone lesions and can be the first manifestation of cancer in approximately 10% of cases. The main clinical manifestations are tenderness, intermittent pain, functional impairment, erythema, heat and swelling of the

Feasibility of a ctDNA multigenic panel for non‐small‐cell lung cancer early detection and disease surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Plasma‐based detection of actionable mutations is a promising approach in lung cancer management. Analysis of ctDNA with a multigene NGS panel identified TP53, KRAS, and EGFR as the most frequently altered, with TP53 and KRAS in treatment‐naïve patients and TP53 and EGFR in previously treated patients.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...
