SLC7A11 frequently migrates faster in SDS‐PAGE. The present study found that the high hydrophobicity of SLC7A11 causes its anomalous migration in SDS‐PAGE with a low concentration of acrylamide gel. Replacing isoleucine with asparagine reduced hydrophobicity and restored its normal migration at 55 kDa, revealing the role of hydrophobicity and gel ...

Gastrointestinal Biopsies for the Diagnosis of Alpha-Synuclein Pathology in Parkinson’s Disease
The diagnosis of Parkinson’s disease (PD) relies on clinical features whereas pathological confirmation is only possible with autopsy examination. The neuropathological hallmarks of PD are neuronal loss and the presence of inclusions termed Lewy bodies ...

Etoposide, a topoisomerase II inhibitor, reduces O‐GlcNAcylation in HepG2 liver cancer cells. Further inhibition of O‐GlcNAc transferase by OSMI‐1 enhanced etoposide‐induced apoptosis, lowering the IC50 for viability and increasing the EC50 for cytotoxicity.

Mixture of Input-Output Hidden Markov Models for Heterogeneous Disease Progression Modeling [PDF]
A particular challenge for disease progression modeling is the heterogeneity of a disease and its manifestations in the patients. Existing approaches often assume the presence of a single disease progression characteristics which is unlikely for neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's disease.

Long non‐coding RNAs (lncRNAs) occupy an abundant fraction of the eukaryotic transcriptome and an emerging area in cancer research. Regulation by lncRNAs is based on their subcellular localization in HNSCC. This cartoon shows the various functions of lncRNAs in HNSCC discussed in this review.

Deep Learning Based Early Diagnostics of Parkinsons Disease [PDF]
In the world, about 7 to 10 million elderly people are suffering from Parkinson's Disease (PD) disease. Parkinson's disease is a common neurological degenerative disease, and its clinical characteristics are Tremors, rigidity, bradykinesia, and decreased autonomy.

Calcium modulating ligand confers risk for Parkinson's disease and impacts lysosomes
Abstract Objective Several genetic loci known to confer risk for Parkinson's disease (PD) function in lysosomal pathways. We systematically screened common variants linked to PD risk by genome‐wide association studies (GWAS) for impact on cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) proteins reflecting lysosomal function.
