Psoralen Photochemistry and Nucleic Acid Structure

open access: bronzeJournal of Investigative Dermatology, 1981
Many new psoralen derivatives have been synthesized in an effort to enhance their water solubility and their binding to nucleic acids. Availability of the very soluble strongly binding compounds has improved our abilities to follow the optical changes associated with the photochemistry of psoralens with DNA.

Chemical etiology of nucleic acid structure [PDF]

open access: bronzePure and Applied Chemistry, 2000
Abstract The synthesis of potentially natural nucleic acid alternatives and comparison of some of their chemical properties with those of RNA and DNA have led to findings that we consider to be relevant in the context of a chemical etiology of nucleic acid structure.

Linking molecular models with ion mobility experiments. Illustration with a rigid nucleic acid structure. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Mass Spectrom, 2015
Ion mobility spectrometry experiments allow the mass spectrometrist to determine an ion's rotationally averaged collision cross section ΩEXP. Molecular modelling is used to visualize what ion three-dimensional structure(s) is(are) compatible with the ...

THE CLASSIC: Molecular Structure of Nucleic Acids [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Orthopaedics & Related Research, 1953
WE wish to suggest a structure for the salt of deoxyribose nucleic acid (D.N.A.). This structure has novel features which are of considerable biological interest. A structure for nucleic acid has already been proposed by Pauling and Corey1. They kindly made their manuscript available to us in advance of publication.

Structural Probes in Quadruplex Nucleic Acid Structure Determination by NMR [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules, 2012
Traditionally, isotope-labelled DNA and RNA have been fundamental to nucleic acid structural studies by NMR. Four-stranded nucleic acid architectures studies increasingly benefit from a plethora of nucleotide conjugates for resonance assignments, the ...

Pre-existing Distortions in Nucleic Acid Structure Aid Polypurine Tract Selection by HIV-1 Reverse Transcriptase* [PDF]

open access: hybridJournal of Biological Chemistry, 2002
Precise cleavage at the polypurine tract (PPT)/U3 junction by human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) reverse transcriptase RNase H is critical for generating a correct viral DNA end for subsequent integration.

A structure for deoxyribose nucleic acid

open access: bronzeJournal of the American College of Cardiology, 2003
This past April marked the 50th anniversary of publication of the manuscript describing the double helix structure of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) by James Watson and Francis Crick [(1)][1]. This was, of course, truly a landmark publication and has been said to have given birth to the field ...

Development of novel nucleic acid therapy aimed at directly controlling liver fibrosis [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids
Currently, no drugs directly treat liver fibrosis. Previously, we have shown that treatment with miR-29a-3p improved liver fibrosis in a mouse model. To investigate the effectiveness of nucleic acid therapy at a lower dose, a modified nucleic acid was ...
