The Functional Carbonated Beverage Properties of Guabiroba Juice Using the Ice Fraction from Gravitational Block Freeze Concentration [PDF]
The freeze concentration of liquid foods generates a by-product that has few academic studies and no industrial application: the ice fraction of each concentration stage. Sugar-free carbonated beverages were produced from the addition of 20% residual ice fraction (stage 1—I120 and stage 2—I220) of the gravitational block freeze concentration process ...

The Addition of Concentrated Cold-Pressed Guabiroba Juice to Yogurts: Effects on the Physicochemical Analyses, Antioxidant Activity, Carotenoid Content, Total Phenolic Compounds, and Mineral Profile [PDF]
Cold-pressed guabiroba juice was subjected to block freeze concentration. The best process efficiency (PE) was obtained for the first stage of freeze concentration compared to the second stage (C2; 57.47%). Yogurt formulations were carried out with the concentrated juice from stage 1 (C1) (0, 10% (I10), and 15% (I15)).

Optimization and sensorial evaluation of guabiroba jam with prebiotic [PDF]
Abstract: The objective of this work was to optimize formulations of guabiroba (Campomanesia xanthocarpa) jam by central composite design (CCD), to evaluate the addition of pectin (P), citric acid (CA), and fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS). The responses were pH, titratable acidity, and hardness.

Urban afforestation can mitigate the effects of air pollution by acting as a sink for atmospheric emissions, but these emissions (e.g., combustion gases from diesel engines) can be a precursor of structural and physiological changes in higher plant species, which could compromise the success of afforestation projects.

AbstractThis study aimed to evaluate the polyphenolic composition along with the biological activity of guabiroba (Campomanesia xanthocarpa Berg.) fruits using comprehensive two‐dimensional liquid chromatography (LC × LC). A simplex centroid design comprising three solvents (methanol, 2% acetic acid, and acetonitrile) was used to optimize the ...

Although rural roads allow the development of rural communities, they alter the natural hydrological response of the river basin. This study was carried out in the Guabiroba River Basin, Guarapuava-PR, Brazil, in order to verify how subsurface hydrological processes are influenced by rural road cuts. For that, field surveys were carried out to identify

AbstractPrevious studies have reported antioxidant and antimicrobial activity of guabiroba extract (GE), which is associated to its polyphenolic and carotenoid contents. Encapsulation using polymeric materials could improve GE application, bioavailability, and stability in foods and pharmaceuticals.

Evaluation of the antioxidant activity of the leaves of acerola, guabiroba and ora-pro-nobis
Revista Brasileira de Pesquisa em Alimentos, 2010<p>The objective of this work was to quantify the total content of phenolic compounds and the antioxidant activity of ethanolic extracts of acerola, guabiroba and ora-pro-nobis leaves. The analysis was performed by the DPPH free-radical method, aiming to find plants with potential use as natural antioxidants in foodstuff.
