Floral Scent Variation in Cyrtorchis letouzeyi (Orchidaceae) Between Natural Versus Cultivated Environments

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 3, May 2025.
Shade houses serve as effective scientific tools for ex situ cultivation and orchid conservation in tropical forests. A comparison of the floral scent chemistry of Cyrtorchis letouzeyi between shade houses and natural populations in Cameroon revealed the same dominant compound, identical qualitative compositions across sites, but variations in emission

Recent Advances in Biosensors Based on Hybridization Chain Reaction and Silver Nanoclusters

open access: yesSmall Methods, Volume 9, Issue 4, April 22, 2025.
This review explores the integration of hybridization chain reaction (HCR) with silver nanoclusters (AgNCs) to form hybrid HCR‐AgNCs biosensors, highlighting advancements in their design, performance, and practical applications. It covers recent innovations, methodological improvements, and the potential of HCR‐AgNCs systems as detectors across various

Formation of Structurally Bound Carbonate in Silicate Melts on the Top of the Mantle Transition Zone

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 52, Issue 3, 16 February 2025.
Abstract Carbon‐bearing dense silicate melts may account for the seismically weak layers on top of the mantle transition zone (MTZ) at 13–14 GPa. How carbon is incorporated into silicate melts at such high pressures has not been experimentally probed, making the nature of carbon in dense melts elusive.

Correlation Between NMR Coupling Constants and σ‐Donating Properties of N‐Heterocyclic Carbenes and Their Derivatives

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 31, Issue 4, January 17, 2025.
A detailed comparison of σ‐donation indicators, including the calculated 1JC−H coupling constant, across a broad spectrum of diverse carbenes provides new insights into their strengths and limitations. This study highlights the utility of 1JC−H for assessing σ‐donation in structurally similar carbenes, while revealing its constraints for carbenes with ...

Efficient PFAS Removal Using Reusable and Non‐Toxic 3D Printed Porous Trianglamine Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 37, Issue 3, January 22, 2025.
In this study, trianglamine, a class of Schiff base macrocycles is used. Combining with pluronic to design by stereolithography process, a novel 3D‐Porous Hydrogel (3D‐PSHΔ) is made. This innovative material, with no fluoride groups, is capable of picking up a broad spectrum of PFAS from aqueous solutions via fast kinetics.

Seeing the Savanna Through the Trees: Vegetation Structure, Composition and Function Along a Forest‐Savanna Boundary in Cambodia

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 57, Issue 1, January 2025.
In the seasonally dry landscapes of continental Southeast Asia, deciduous dipterocarp vegetation (DDF), which resembles savanna, and semi‐evergreen forests (SEF) form patchy landscape mosaics, with abrupt boundaries between them. Alternative hypotheses suggest that these vegetation types are alternative stable states maintained by fire‐vegetation ...
