Compostable and Recyclable Baroplastic Triblock Copolymers Enable Low‐Energy Polymer Processing

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Baroplastic Poly(L‐lactide)‐block‐poly(ethylene glycol)‐block‐poly(L‐lactide) triblock copolymers enable ambient‐temperature processing under moderate pressure, reducing energy demand while preserving polymer integrity. The materials show rapid industrial compostability, effective chemical and physical recyclability, and compatibility with heat ...

Mimicking Block Copolymer Self‐Assembly with One‐Pot Synthesized Polyphosphoester Gradient Copolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 26, 30 March 2026.
Degradable Polyphosphoester (PPE) gradient copolymers (GCPs) are synthesized via one‐pot copolymerization. We show that GCPs self‐assemble into nanostructures like polymersomes, effectively mimicking the behavior of traditional BCPs. The gradient strength is key, with softer gradients favoring micelles.

The Function and Supramolecular Assembly of the Mitochondrial Respiratory Complexes Underlie Hypertension‐Related Stroke Susceptibility in a Model of Complex Human Disease

open access: yesBioFactors, Volume 51, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
Supramolecular assembly or respiratory complexes is imposed by hypertensive conditions. Kinetic behavior and organization of supercomplexes in hypertensive rodent strains response to different dietary styles. The stability of respiratory complex I in supercomplex protects from stroke manifestation.

ZNF224 enhances the oncogenic function of p21 via p53 and AKT pathways in melanoma

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 292, Issue 15, Page 3986-4005, August 2025.
KRAB zinc finger protein ZNF224 acts as an oncogenic factor in melanoma cells, enhancing p21 cytosolic retention and impairing nuclear p21 cytostatic activity through stimulation of the AKT pathway. Furthermore, ZNF224 regulates transcriptional expression levels of p21 via p53.

Catalytic Dehydrogenation of Lauric Acid and a Potential Use in Polyester Synthesis

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, Volume 127, Issue 7, July 2025.
A three‐step reaction sequence was developed to synthesize renewable lauric acid–based dimethyl esters. The sequence consists of a catalytic dehydrogenation of saturated fatty acids with molecular oxygen as oxidant, an esterification with methanol, and a dimerization reaction with dithiols via thia‐Michael addition.

Salt‐Responsive Switchable Block Copolymer Brushes with Antibacterial and Antifouling Properties

open access: yesMacromolecular Bioscience, Volume 25, Issue 1, January 2025.
A strategy for multifunctional antibacterial surfaces exploiting multiblock copolymers and the antipolyelectrolyte effect for surface regeneration is reported. Combining a polyzwitterionic/antifouling and a polycationic/antibacterial block with a central anchoring block for attached to titanium oxide surfaces affords surface coatings that kill bacteria

Dairy and nondairy proteins as nano‐architecture structures for delivering phenolic compounds: Unraveling their molecular interactions to maximize health benefits

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 23, Issue 6, November 2024.
Abstract Phenolic compounds are recognized for their benefits against degenerative diseases. Clinical and nutritional applications are limited by their low solubility, stability, and bioavailability, compromising their efficacy. Natural macromolecules, such as lipids, polysaccharides, and proteins, employed as delivery systems can efficiently overcome ...

An Atomistic View on the Mechanism of Diatom Peptide‐Guided Biomimetic Silica Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 11, Issue 30, August 14, 2024.
Using the diatom‐derived peptides R5 and synthetic Silaffin‐1A1, the mechanism is elucidated underlying template‐driven silica formation and it is demonstrated how to exercise morphology control over bioinorganic solids by manipulating the template architectures.

Ester‐Functionalized Polythiophene Interlayers for Enhanced Performance and Stability of Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 9, Issue 7, April 4, 2024.
Bifunctional polymer interlayers passivate the under‐coordinated Pb2+ defects, facilitate charge transfer, and provide a hydrophobic barrier within perovskite solar cells. Abstract Interfacial defects between the organic–inorganic lead halide perovskite and hole‐transporting layers are one significant factor limiting the performance of the perovskite ...
