Summary This article considers how different ‘triggers' contribute to changes in the use of antimicrobials. Drawing on the Triggering Change model, the article suggests that the use of antimicrobials is path dependent: economically, socially and culturally invested in maintaining a steady trajectory, with incremental changes.

Evidence on Mediterranean diet (MD) and age‐related cognitive decline (CD) is still inconclusive partly due to self‐reported dietary assessment. This study develops an MD metabolomic score based on serum biomarkers of MD food groups and investigate its association with CD in older adults.
