EMU and trade: The euro effect on the agricultural sector

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Agricultural Economics/Revue canadienne d'agroeconomie, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper uses a structural gravity model to examine the partial equilibrium effects of the European Monetary Union (EMU) on trade for the agricultural sector. We find robust evidence that EMU has increased trade both between members and between EMU and non‐EMU member countries. This positive link is found in most member countries.

The many prices of war and occupation: Black markets and the cost‐of‐living index in France, 1938–1949

open access: yesThe Economic History Review, EarlyView.
Abstract When studying French prices between 1938 and 1949, economists and historians face a paradox: whilst a vast black market shaped daily life, official indices recorded only state‐controlled prices. This article addresses the issue by introducing a new consumer price index that incorporates both official and black market prices.

Ceramic ecology in an Islamic capital: changes in the production and consumption of pottery in Palermo

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, EarlyView.
Palermo became the new capital of Sicily after the Aghlabid conquest in 831. The transformation of the city into a capital took many forms, including the production and consumption of pottery. The perspective from ceramic evidence shows that Palermo underwent faster and deeper processes of Islamization than other urban and rural contexts across the ...

Impact of ultraviolet radiation‐induced damage to hair fiber integrity: A multi‐technique physicochemical characterization of surface and cortex properties

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
UV exposure induces cuticular and cortical damage in natural hair, with oxidative effects and protein degradation comparable to bleaching. However, double bleaching leads to significantly greater structural degradation, emphasizing distinct mechanisms and severity of chemical versus UV‐induced damage. Abstract The combination of chemist techniques is a

Three‐dimensional three‐interval thixotropy test (3D‐3ITT) protocol for cosmetic lotions: A proof‐of‐concept study linking thixotropy to sensory and emotional responses

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
From rheology to emotion: 3D‐3ITT converts usage‐like shear histories into recovery maps and thixotropy index, TI3D. In a blinded half‐face study (N = 30), the higher‐ TI3D serum (S1s) improved absorption/clean feel and increased Relax and Comfort while lowering Anxiety relative to S2s.

Real‐world evidence for the efficacy and tolerability of an isobutylamido‐thiazolyl‐resorcinol (Thiamidol)‐containing skincare regimen on facial hyperpigmentation and overall skin appearance: A multi‐centre study in 11 European countries

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
A Thiamidol‐containing skincare regimen showed significant improvement in facial hyperpigmentation in a real‐world study across 11 European countries. The treatment led to a significant reduction in mMASI scores, enhanced overall skin condition and demonstrated high tolerability.

Trans‐resveratrol alleviates inflammation and improves skin barrier function via aryl hydrocarbon receptor pathway in human reconstructed epidermis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, EarlyView.
In a cytokine‐challenged human epidermal model, trans‐resveratrol reduces inflammation (IL‐1α) and oxidative stress markers (CYP1A1, CYP1B1), while modulating the expression of barrier‐related genes (LOR, OCLN) and differentiation‐associated CASP14. This supports its role as a multifunctional active for sensitive and compromised skin.
